Every problem has roots.
Every decision has branches.
Live Oak Digital is an AI enablement consultancy. We dig down to what's actually constraining your business — then trace what the fix touches, and what those things touch, before you commit a dollar to building it.
The moment we're in
AI is reshaping how businesses operate.
Most are responding to symptoms.
Every week another tool promises transformation. Most deployments stall because no one asked the harder question: what is actually slowing this organization down?
Usually the answer is complexity — the business version of anxiety. It compounds quietly, it touches everything, and it never resolves itself.
Typical approach
"We need a chatbot."
Buy a tool. Deploy fast. See modest results. Wonder why nothing changed downstream.
The Live Oak approach
"What's really broken?"
Diagnose the system. Address the root constraint. Build solutions that compound.
Our philosophy
Roots first. Then branches.
Most consultants solve what you asked for. The underlying issue — the one that generated the request — stays intact. And almost nobody does the second half: tracing what the solution will set in motion once it ships.
We do both. Down to the root cause, then out along every branch — if we make this change, what does it touch? What do those things touch? First-order answers are everywhere. The expensive mistakes live in the second and third order. That's where we work.
Clients come to us for one thing and leave understanding three.
That clarity — not just the deliverable — is what we provide.
Your people
You hired pitchers to pitch.
You hired your people because they're great at what they do. Then the grunt work crept in — the spreadsheets, the status reports, the quarterly grind — and now your best people spend half their week on work nobody hired them for.
Every job is really two jobs: the work that makes you money, and the work that costs you money. You want your plumbers unclogging drains, not filing paperwork. Nobody can get them to 100% — but we can get you from 50 to 90, and that difference shows up in revenue, retention, and morale.
We don't use AI to replace your people. We use it to give them back their job description — and to give them the tools to build their own leverage, so the gains keep compounding after we leave.
How we work
A ladder, not a leap.
-
1
Discovery Conversation Free, about an hour.
We listen, map the landscape, and identify where the friction actually lives. No pitch, no pre-built solution. You leave with a diagnosis either way.
-
2
Root & Branch Diagnostic Fixed price, 1–2 weeks.
We go deep: what's actually broken, what fixing it will touch, and what to build first. You get findings, a consequence map of every recommended action, and a scoped build plan you could hand to anyone — including someone who isn't us.
-
3
Build Fast, iterative, feedback-driven.
The smallest thing that stress-tests the theory. Working output in days, not after weeks of silent coding. Feedback is a continuous input, not a milestone.
-
4
Larger system redesigns
Available once there's trust and clear impact.
Services
Three areas where we deliver change
Ops & Knowledge
Operations & Knowledge Systems
SOPs, internal AI assistants, process automation, and knowledge bases that turn institutional knowledge into leverage.
Revenue
RevOps & Pipeline Intelligence
CRM hygiene, AI-assisted outreach, pipeline visibility, and revenue workflow design that closes the gap between effort and outcome.
Data & Analytics
Data Infrastructure & Dashboards
Data lakes, reporting layers, and executive dashboards built to surface decisions, not just numbers. From ETL to insight.
Selected work
Four problems. Four deeper diagnoses.
Data Operations · Automation
A Global Corporate-Data Publisher
Hundreds of thousands of parent & subsidiary records, worldwide
The ask: Maintain company records across the globe — a process where a person researched, keyed, and verified every subsidiary's details by hand, hundreds or thousands per parent company.
The deeper diagnosis: The bottleneck wasn't effort — the human was the loop. We started small: a bulk-import tool built around a standardized template. Once that earned trust, we built a custom AI agent that scrapes, parses, cleans, and imports an entire company's location data from a single web URL.
"We're moving the retail and larger sub-companies much quicker — and including data we could never process before. And it all started with the upload tool, which came from an offhand comment I made in one of our meetings." — Client project lead
Media · Audio & AI
A National Opinion Magazine
Long-form journalism competing for shrinking attention
The ask: Deepen reader engagement with long-form articles. We integrated AI narration so every article on the site gets a "listen to this article" button — one integration, sitewide.
The deeper diagnosis: If readers would listen to one article, they'd listen to a daily show. We built a tool that takes the last 24 hours of articles, summarizes them in the publication's own voice and editorial standards, and ships a 4–5 minute "Morning Briefing" podcast — automatically, every day.
A readership became a listenership — a new daily channel with zero added editorial workload.
Federal · Knowledge Systems
A Large Federal Contractor
Active engagements across DOW, DOT, USPTO & other agencies
The ask: Proposal responses were slow and bottlenecked on senior staff. We streamlined drafting with AI-assisted analysis and writing tools.
The deeper diagnosis: The real constraint wasn't writing — it was access to institutional knowledge locked in executives' heads. We built a semantic knowledgebase of years of proposal history, searchable conversationally, and trained the entire proposal team on it.
Expertise that used to require scheduling a meeting with an EVP — now on demand.
Agentic AI · Accessibility
The American Council of the Blind
National advocacy organization
The ask: Modernize the Audio Description Project's digital infrastructure.
The deeper diagnosis: The deeper opportunity was architectural. The same structured, language-native interface that lets an AI agent operate software is the one that serves blind users by design — so we built toward both at once. We're developing a grant-funded MCP server implementation so the agent ecosystem reaches this community by default, not by retrofit.
Beyond the build: we helped draft the grant language that funds the work and support ACB's technical partnerships with major cloud providers. It also produced a published argument for building the agentic web accessible from day one — co-authored with a co-creator of the MCP Apps specification. Read it at AAIF.
Where this is heading
The interface between software and AI
is being written right now.
Software is starting to be driven as much by AI agents as by people. The protocols that decide how — the Model Context Protocol, and emerging browser standards like WebMCP — are being defined right now, while the communities shaping them are still small. That's the moment to get it right, which is why we co-authored a published argument for building those standards accessibly — with one of the MCP Apps specification's co-creators.
Here's the second-order insight most teams miss: the work that makes your software ready for AI agents is the same work that makes it accessible, searchable, and automatable. First-order thinking funds those as four separate projects. They're one — and the entire industry is racing to pay for it. Knowing that is the difference between buying the same capability four times and capturing it once.
Who we work with
Operators who want to understand
before they invest
Growing SMBs & Scale-Ups
Revenue $2M–$50M. Processes held together with spreadsheets, tribal knowledge, and manual handoffs. Ready for infrastructure that matches ambition.
Private Equity–Backed Companies
Post-acquisition ops gaps, reporting debt, RevOps inefficiency, 100-day timelines. Second-order thinking applied to first-100-day pressure: we move fast without breaking what works.
Professional Services Firms
Agencies, consultancies, legal and financial practices where knowledge is the product — and better knowledge systems are a competitive edge.
Mission-Driven Organizations
Nonprofits and social enterprises where bandwidth is scarce and impact is paramount. Strategic engagements at the right fit.
Our belief
Most AI projects don't fail because
the technology is wrong.
They fail because no one defined what problem was being solved — or whether the organization could act on the output.
"The companies that get real value from AI aren't necessarily the ones who moved fastest. They're the ones who understood their own operations well enough to know where to apply it."
